New York Bans Texting and Driving

According to an article on nydailynews.com, a new law in New York will leave young drivers caught texting or using a handheld cell phone while driving facing a 60-day license or permit suspension.

“Inattention and inexperience is a deadly combination and no parents should have to experience losing a child at the hands of a text message,” explains Governor Cuomo.

At SafeAuto, we think that this law is a great idea, not only for young drivers, but for older drivers as well. A cell phone in the hands of any driver can be extremely dangerous and life threatening. We believe that anything lawmakers can do to eliminate distractions and make drivers focus more on what’s important (the road!) is beneficial and useful.

And of course, if you’re a driver you should always be insured. Visit www.safeauto.com for a free quote from the state minimum auto insurance company. To share your thoughts about this new law in New York, visit SafeAuto’s Facebook page.
