As Spring Arrives, So Do Potholes

We’ve all experienced potholes at some time in our lives, whether we saw them coming or not. Spring has officially arrived even though Punxsutawney Phil declared six more weeks of winter. If you’ve been lucky enough to have seen the movie Groundhog Day, weatherman Phil Connors is going to make sure that spring arrives in full force. As the weather gets warmer baseball begins, flowers bloom, but more importantly potholes form.

Potholes form when rain or melted snow fills in cracks on the road. When the liquid freezes it expands making the cracks deeper and wider creating the pothole. Make sure to keep both eyes on the road to avoid potholes. Check out this YouTube video for further explanation and demonstration. Unlike Family Guy’s Peter Griffin, it’s also a good idea not to read comic books while you drive. I sure hope he has car insurance!

Potholes can be dangerous and do damage to your car, so be sure to pay extra special attention to the roads this spring. And remember to Play it Safe!
