Best American Road Trip – Classic U.S. Car Trips

Now that Memorial Day is behind us, it’s really starting to feel like summer is fast approaching. We don’t know about you, but when we think of summer, we think bathing suits, BBQ’s, and of course, road trips! As you’re starting to put together your road trip list for the summer, we thought we’d start you off with a few of our favorites:

1. Texas: From Austin to San Antonio and then back to Dallas, this road trip gives you the chance to see a little bit of everything. Country music, the River Walk, and if you’re lucky, maybe you can even catch the Texas State Fair in Dallas! Don’t forget to also hit up Fort Worth, which is just a short drive from Dallas and definitely a must-see.

2. Florida: From Key Largo, near Miami, to Key West, the Southernmost point in the continental U.S., there are a series of bridges and causeways that allow you to drive over beautiful blue waters for more than a hundred miles!

3. California: Iconic Route 1 extends almost the entire length of California, but our favorite is through the Big Sur, which comprises about 90 miles along the central coast from San Simeon to Carmel. Big Sur’s beauty is not to be missed and the road twists along the cliffs and is great for impromptu hiking, picnicking, or beach combing.

4. Blue Ridge Parkway: This stretch of highway goes 469 miles along the southern Appalachian Mountains and links two great national parks – Virginia’s Shenandoah and North Carolina’s Great Smoky Mountains. All along the way you’ll see great picnic areas and hiking trails.

5. Maine: Start in Kennebunkport to visit it’s seaside mansions and then head to Portland for the best seafood and lobster rolls you can possibly imagine. This road trip is filled with amazing landscapes, beautiful homes, and even better food.

Though this is only a small handful of the amazing road trip the United States has to offer, we think it’s a great start to your summer list.
