In Maricopa County, which includes the cities of Tempe, Scottsdale and Mesa, to name a few, the average commute time is 26 minutes, according to U.S. Census figures. In rush hour, it’s closer to 31 minutes.

Overall, Phoenix is an extremely populated and well diversified city. The fact that they rank 40th overall for time spent in traffic jams is a testament to the architecture of the freeways and the drivers in The Valley.
