This weekend will be an unforgettable one for SafeAuto Racing Driver Johnny Sauter. Not only did he edge Kyle Busch to win the Kroger 250 Camping World Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway Saturday, but also he and his wife are expecting a child on Monday.
Sauter will leave Martinsville just as fast as his No.13 SafeAuto truck was on the short track to join his wife Cortney in labor. “This is a big weekend for me,” said Sauter. “I have a baby that’s going to be born on Monday morning.” This was the third career NASCAR Truck Series victory for Sauter. The baby will be the Sauter’s second.
Sauter was confident after he took the pole prior to the race. “I’ve never been so confident in this truck or this team. I was telling Joe (Shear, Jr – crew chief) earlier that this is the best truck we’ve ever brought here,” said Sauter. His intuition was correct.
Sauter was able to pass Kyle Busch for the lead on Lap 248 of 250 and held off the red-hot driver to win the Kroger 250 at Martinsville Speedway. The No.13 SafeAuto driver now sits first in the series points lead over ThorSport teammate Matt Crafton.
Note: SafeAuto had a big weekend in Virginia this weekend. Not only did Johnny Sauter win the Martinsville race, the insurance company also announced coverage expansion into the state.
