For kids, Halloween night is the most fun event of the year. Spooky adventures filled with candy and creepy costumes make for memories that will last a lifetime.
Although this season can be fun, there are extra precautions you can take to keep your children as safe as possible. To ensure a magical night for every witch, princess, superhero, and ghost, we have compiled a guide of Trick-or-Treat safety tips:
Plan ahead! Decide where you are going ahead of time. Make sure everyone gets a good night’s rest before so they have plenty of energy for the fun night ahead! Prior to heading out, put your child’s name, address, and phone number on their costume. All children under the age of 10 should be accompanied by an adult; if older than 10 some children can be ready to head out with friends.
Set a meeting place. If you and your little ones get separated, establish a meeting place in the neighborhood.
Wear bright colors. Make sure drivers are able to see you. Reflective clothing can also be useful to ensure that you are visible.
Be alert! When driving, slow down to make sure that no pedestrians are in your path. If walking, cross the street only at corners or crosswalks
Even if you are sitting out on the festivities this year, be familiar with popular trick-or-treat locations in your area. When leaving your house, be aware of any kids that could be walking on the street! Drive slow!
If you do plan on going Trick-or-Treating and driving throughout the night, make sure you’re insured first! SafeAuto is available 24/7 to assist you with coverage. With these safety steps taken, this Halloween will be the best, and safest, one yet.
